You said you can't be responsible for my happiness. I only now understand the brevity of those words.
Singers always croon and playwrights always pen that to be someone's everything is everything. But I suppose being someone's everything is as terrifying as giving someone everything. I gave you all of me, every little piece, and what you were became who I was. We were we, and that was everything.
But you were sinking, weren't you? You were drowning under your own weight long before I met you, and when I became a part of you, it became too much. You let me go, to save yourself. As any desperate, drowning person would do. But the thing is...I've always been a strong swimmer.
